Flibanserin is not for women who have already been through menopause. This medication is also not for use by men.

What should I avoid while taking flibanserin (Addyi)?

Drinking alcohol with this medicine can cause dangerous or unwanted side effects.

Grapefruit can interact with flibanserin and cause unwanted side effects. Avoid using grapefruit products.

Avoid taking any of the following over-the-counter or herbal products without your doctor's advice:

• cimetidine
• ginkgo biloba
• resveratrol
• Grass of San Juan.

Dizziness or low blood pressure may cause falls or other accidents. Avoid driving or operating machinery for at least 6 hours after taking flibanserin, and until you know how this medication will affect you. Your reactions may be affected.

Avoid getting up too quickly from a sitting or lying position, or you may feel dizzy.

You should not take flibanserin within two hours of drinking alcohol.

Some medicines can cause unwanted or dangerous effects when used with flibanserin. Your doctor may change your treatment plan if you also use:

• nefazodone;
• an antibiotic – ciprofloxacin, clarithromycin, erythromycin, telithromycin;
• antifungal drugs--fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, posaconazole;
• antiviral medication to treat hepatitis C–boceprevir, telaprevir;
• heart medications or blood pressure: conivaptan, diltiazem, verapamil; either
• Medicines for HIV or AIDS: Atazanavir, fosamprenavir, indinavir, nelfinavir, ritonavir, saquinavir.

Tell your doctor if you have ever had:

• alcoholism (or if you currently drink alcohol);
