How should this medicine be used?
What happens if I miss a dose (Addyi)?
Skip the missed dose and take the medicine the next day at bedtime. Do not take flibanserin in the morning and do not take two doses at the same time.
What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking flibanserin (Addyi)?
You should not use flibanserin if you are allergic to it or if you have:
- Liver disease
- If you have recently consumed alcohol
You should not take flibanserin within two hours of drinking alcohol.
Some medicines can cause unwanted or dangerous effects when used with flibanserin. Your doctor may change your treatment plan if you also use:
- nefazodone;
- an antibiotic – ciprofloxacin, clarithromycin, erythromycin, telithromycin;
- antifungal drugs--fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, posaconazole;
- antiviral medication to treat hepatitis C–boceprevir, telaprevir;
- heart medications or blood pressure: conivaptan, diltiazem, verapamil; either
- Medicines for HIV or AIDS: Atazanavir, fosamprenavir, indinavir, nelfinavir, ritonavir, saquinavir.
Tell your doctor if you have ever had:
- alcoholism (or if you currently drink alcohol);
- drug addiction;
- depression or mental illness; either
- low blood pressure.
It is unknown if this drug can harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
You should not breast-feed while you are using this medicine.
Flibanserin is not approved for use by anyone under 18 years of age.
