Urispas (Flavoxate) reduces muscle spasms in the bladder and urinary tract.
Urispas is used to treat bladder symptoms such as frequent or urgent urination, increased nighttime urination, bladder pain, and incontinence (leakage of urine). These bladder symptoms are usually caused by an overactive bladder, an enlarged prostate, bladder infections, or irritation of the urethra.
Urispas will not treat a bacterial or fungal infection of the bladder. Infections must be treated with an antibiotic.
Urispas may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.

You should not use this medicine if you are allergic to Urispas, or if you have untreated or uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma, a blockage in the digestive tract (stomach or intestines), or if you are unable to urinate.
Before using Urispas, tell your doctor if you have glaucoma or urinary problems.
Urispas can cause drowsiness or blurred vision. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert and able to see clearly. There may be other medications that can interact with flavoxate. Tell your doctor about all the medicines you use, whether they are prescribed or not. This includes vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and medicines prescribed by other doctors. Do not start using a new medicine without telling your doctor. Take a list of all the medicines you use with you and show it to any doctor or healthcare professional who treats you.
Stop using this medicine and call your doctor if you have serious side effects such as hot and dry skin, confusion, pounding heart, fluttering in the chest, or if you stop urinating.

Make sure your doctor knows if you have:
a blockage in your stomach or intestines;
history of stomach ulcer or bleeding; or
if you are unable to urinate.
Before use, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any medicines or if you have
Glaucoma.

If you have any of these conditions, you may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely take Urispas.
FDA pregnancy category B. This medicine is not expected to be harmful to the fetus. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. It is not known whether flavoxate passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medicine without informing your doctor if you are breastfeeding a baby.

With Urispas an additional patient leaflet is available. Talk to your pharmacist if you have questions about this information. Take Urispas by mouth 30 minutes after eating the same food each day.
Swallow Urispas whole. Do not break, crush, chew, or open the capsules before swallowing.
If you miss a dose of Urispas, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not take two doses at the same time. If you forget to take more than 2 doses of Urispas, contact your doctor for instructions.

Store this product at a room temperature of 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Brief storage between 59-86 degrees (15-30 degrees C) is allowed.
